Altitude sickness (soroche)

-Altitude sickness, as the name implies, occurs at a certain height where the oxygen level is very low, dry, cold and makes you lose moisture in your breathing.

-You can prepare for this situation. Before climbing to height:

-Drink lots of electrolight, gatorade or powerade to take advantage of the supplements that the body needs. Thus, it prevents dizziness, headache and nausea. Very typical in height.

 Once in height:

To rest balances the red and white blood cells in height.

To eat light and small portions. Avoid stomach problems

To drink plenty of water. Avoid dehydration.

Coca tea has therapeutic properties for height

The first day in height. Take it very calmly.

 Water

It is recommended: DO NOT drink tap water in Peru, unless it is boiled first. Bottled water is available for purchase. The water of the rivers is not good either, especially when you go on a trip somewhere in the city of Cusco. If you want to enjoy your trip, you should only drink safe and healthy water.

Seasons and climate

In the Andes, the weather forecast is not easy because in one day the four seasons can be presented. For this reason, we recommend traveling very prepared for these climate changes.

Our rainy season is very varied:

Sometimes very rainy and wet.

Sometimes it is very dry and sunny.

Other times due to the presence of the Andes Mountains: It is dry and cold.

It is common to be very cold in the shade and very hot in the sun.

Whereby. We recommend that you bring clothes that are easy to handle.

Officially we have two stations:

The rainy season: From December to the end of March

The dry season: From April to mid-December.

In both stations we can find different climates:

Warm Climates: Which can be dry and / or humid. The dry climates are in the lower yungas in the Apurimac River Basin, in the center and south west of the department. And the humid climates in the zones of low forest.

Temperate climates: Which can be humid in the central area of the department. In the places closest to the east it is more humid and close to the west the climate is drier.

Cold climates: They can be humid or dry in areas of greater height, that is, above 3800 meters.

Money exchange

We recommend changing money in banks or in recommended places. The change should be in small bills because there are lots of counterfeit bills. It is also important to know where to buy: Gifts and souvenirs, to avoid fake money in your purchases.

Vaccines

No vaccines are required to travel to Peru, but it is recommended to get vaccinated against yellow fever if you are thinking about traveling to the Amazon. We also recommend the following website to obtain updated information regarding necessary and preventive travel vaccines.
